be where your feet are

Presented as part of ‘Radius 5.0’ an exhibition in February 2024 delivered by The Junction Co at The Courthouse Gallery+Studio in Port Hedland, WA. Sarah’s collection was selected to be a part of the program designed for emerging artists of the Pilbara region of North Western Australia. A series of acrylic paintings on canvas, the works explore movement, dynamic brush strokes, light, texture and depth, with an emphasis on expression in the moment inspired by the natural surroundings, a love for the outdoors, the coast and a childhood enchantment of being close to nature. That nature, coastline, colour, the striking Pilbara environment, and Sarah’s lived experience amongst it, all influence this body of work. “Be Where Your Feet Are” is a collection of abstract pieces, expressing a determination to find big life in small moments. It’s about the natural space in the magical pocket of Australia in which Sarah has found herself; the constant appreciation and positivity drawn from nature, a hope to inspire a search for joy, a softening of heart, and the creating of a more nurtured sense of place.
